About Me

I like to write. And I like things to do with home improvements, houses, stuff like that. So I decided to do this blog. And since this is my blog I can write about anything I like, I don’t have anyone telling me what to write on this blog.

So A Little About Me

Three years ago I bought an investment property. This wasn’t just any property. The place was really very run down so I got it for a bargain. Or so I thought.

When I first viewed the property, I inspected the problems with the house carefully and made the executive decision that I could repair (renovate) most things myself. Normally I’m pretty handy with my hands and can usually achieve most repairs with some level of success.

The building had all sorts of problems. For example, there were issues with the plumbing, there were issues with door locks and window locks, issues with the roof (I could notably see broken tiles and the roof just looked terrible), and on and on. Again, most stuff that I thought I could handle.

So I decided to take the leap and purchase this bargain with a goal to do it up myself (to save money of course) and then rent it out as an investment property.

I proceeded to hit the mortgage broker up for a loan (and that was not without problems but I’ll save that story for a post on mortgage brokers), and in time we got through and settled on the property.

Now, I’ll save each story about the journey of doing up this house for a blog post, mostly because the stories are lengthy and I’m looking forward to writing about them.

Lets just say in summary, I’ve learnt what I can and can’t do to a building, and learnt a lot about local tradies and businesses.

Stay tuned as I find the time to document my experiences and who knows, they may even help someone else. If you’d like to leave a comment or ask a question, please don’t be shy and use the Contact Me page to get in touch.
